What Diablo 4's Sixth Class Could Be
diablo 4 items live-service model and Blizzard's precedents with Diablo 3 create a sixth class most likely for the upcoming action RPG.
Diablo like a franchise isn't new to revisiting classic fantasy RPG imagery because of its content, that is something Diablo 4 has proven to be doing, only in a grittier fashion when compared with its predecessor and on to get to be the spiritual successor to Diablo 2, instead. One of the biggest staples of Diablo games is they draw inspiration from the typical classes of fantasy RPGs, using the first entry within the series featuring the trio of Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer. These archetypes in many cases are expanded upon in a variety of ways, including Diablo's concentration on builds and loot progression, and Diablo 4 isn't any exception.
Since Diablo 4 only features five classes on launch, it's most likely that it will stick to the footsteps of Diablo 3 and also have additional ones further down the road, possibly associated with one of its seasons. Diablo 4's first season is unlikely in the future with an additional class, but it is possible that within its newbie, the sport will become bigger - and therefore call for a refreshing change of perspective via a new archetype becoming playable. With a few of those archetypes already within the game, the options for a sixth class are limited, but nonetheless equally exciting.
Why Diablo 4 Could Feature a Sixth Class Between Crusader, Amazon, and Monk
One of the very likely candidates being Diablo 4's new class post-launch may be the Paladin or Crusader, an archetype that was first introduced with Diablo 2 after which found lots of success with Diablo 3. Since the series is about defeating demons and protecting the land from evil, this isn't only an ideal choice in terms of different playstyle when compared with the existing Diablo 4 classes, but it makes lots of sense from the lore standpoint and may even be accustomed to expand on seasonal storylines. With Diablo 4 putting lots of emphasis on the live-service model Blizzard has been working on, it appears reasonable to anticipate a new class in the future alongside major story beats.
For these reasons, given that none of the existing classes comes close to the playstyle of the Paladin and also the Crusader, this may be the most likely selection for a sixth Diablo 4 class - although not the only one. Another archetype that may find itself at home within the lands of Sanctuary may be the Amazon. A fierce warrior introduced in Diablo 2 and recently rediscovered in Diablo 2: Resurrected, the Amazon does share similarities with Diablo 4's Rogue, however, it brings something unique to the table through the javelin.
Not that, though, because the Amazon is principally focused on ranged play, which would be an amazing addition to Diablo 4 given how melee-focused most of the sport can feel like. Even within the face of some tie-ins using the way some from the Rogue's current abilities are capable of, Diablo 2: Resurrected's Amazon could be a fantastic class to create to Diablo 4 - especially because it skipped a generation and not made it into Diablo 3. Lastly, a fan-favorite class from Diablo 3 was the Monk, which was the only game within the series that featured this archetype.
With an identical background as that of the Paladin and Crusader, the Monk would probably be a great easily fit in Diablo 4's Sanctuary and iteration from the war between angels and demons. It could be another melee-centered class within the game, similar to Diablo 4 buy items Barbarian and Druid, however, it would bring interesting options toward the title with regard to gear and talents. Given that some classes do not have high mobility, the Monk could easily increase the value of that particular department while still retaining its identity from Diablo 3.
Diablo 4 launches on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
