Since 2016,  children have been covered by a new gaming wave called Roblox. For parents, what is happening on the screens of gadgets looked, to put it mildly, strange. Clumsily executed characters in a primitive square world perform tasks that make little sense. As if the game was built by the children themselves, as best they could, crossing Lego and Minecraft on their knees, but colorful and noisy. Very quickly, Roblox https://robloxscripts.dev/ began to be taken seriously - it won the battle for attention from too many. Children began to spend millions of their carefree hours there, and many of their parents' wallets got acquainted with a new expense item - the game currency robux. 

What is Roblox

Technically, a child's phrase "I play Roblox" is not quite correct. This is not one game, but a whole platform for creating game content. What is the attraction of such a sandbox for children? The fact that everything happens there for fun, in a team with friends, to trendy music, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of your favorite characters and often by your own rules. 

For many school-age players, this turned out to be much more attractive than the race to draw a picture with modern consoles with their shadows and realistic highlights in puddles on the pavement. Just imagine a little creator who created the world, filled it with attractions and traps, and now in god mode he flies through the sky and monitors the visit counter. 

All games existing on the platform are divided into almost two dozen genres. It makes little sense to list them, the list can be viewed in the application menu. Let's talk about the most popular of them. 

A large audience is gathered by plagiarism projects, which, due to the capabilities of the sandbox, copy famous games, for example,  GTA VO nline , CS:GO or Granny. They are not at all shy with copy-paste here. So, their version of the popular game Among Us about the calculation of a traitor on a spaceship in Roblox was called Amongst Us.

Many people play parkour or obbi simulators, from the English obstacle course - an obstacle course. Noticeable interest is shown in the MOBA genre (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). It assumes the presence on the map of two teams attacking each other until victory - the occupation of the main building of the enemy. Various tycoons shoot well, they are magnates. These are business simulations with the main progress in the form of earnings, for example, virtual pizzerias. 

There are many role-playing and anime games in Roblox. You can find a simulation of a rich life in a house with a pool, the game Adopt Me! offers to choose and train a pet, has its own version of the desktop Mafia and the opportunity to play as a lumberjack or a bee collecting honey.

The beta version of Roblox appeared in 2006, it was presented by the permanent leader David Bazooki. In 2012, the platform launched on iOS, and in 2015 on Xbox One. 

Roblox went public in March 2021 and was valued at $42 billion. Its shares immediately began to grow, and according to stock prices, it soon turned out to be more expensive than Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. The company's headquarters is located in San Mateo, California.

In general, the monthly audience of the project in the fall of 2021 exceeded 250 million users. Every day, Roblox is launched by about 50 million children around the world. 

In 2021, the platform earned $1.3 billion and ranked fourth behind  PUBG Mob ile , Honor of Kings, and Genshin Impact. 

Roblox Monetization

The platform is monetized through donations. For virtual currency, players buy skins, weapons, pets and other trinkets. Roblox in its advertising tells children that they can earn money on the platform. To do this, it is enough to create a game where people will come and buy the proposed paraphernalia. Many people believe this, but in practice everything turns out to be far from so simple. 

Indeed, creating your own game is easy and the tools for this are completely free. Problems begin with attempts to attract an audience. How to get your game noticed if there were already more than 20 million similar products for any color on the platform in mid-2021? Only a few hundred of the most popular positions are scrolled in the SERP. There is no sorting by recently created games or developer's nickname. There is the possibility of paid promotion, but a schoolboy on his knee can no longer cope with this task. Therefore, people and teams with experience become successful developers, and the only thing left for children is to play. Well, sometimes practice in the game building in an empty world with a couple of friends, discussing with them what is happening in teamspeak.

Even if a smart teenager creates something potentially interesting, the idea will most likely be immediately intercepted by the guys with the money. They will quickly package it into a finished product (luckily in Roblox it does not take much time), promote it for money and collect the cream without any royalties to the real author. 

Developers do not pay Roblox for hosting and moderation. But the fairy tales end at the sharing of donations - platform holders take 75.5 percent of microtransactions in games. The same Steam, for example, takes only 30 percent of donations. 

In addition to creating the games themselves, users are also encouraged to design avatar clothing to sell. You can save game currency not only for various options for pumping other characters, but also for creating musical accompaniment in games. The platform allows withdrawing amounts from 100,000 robux. For the specified amount of game currency, $ 350 will fall into the account with reservations such as a commission and the presence of a paid subscription. 

Collabs

Stars and brands followed the audience with its money and attention in Roblox. For example, Paris Hilton presented her own island in the gaming metaverse. It's called Paris World. The island can be explored by expensive car or yacht. Purchases of virtual clothes and rides on the same jet ski are already paid for with real money. 

The famous manufacturer of sneakers and other sports paraphernalia creates its own Nikeland on the fields of Roblox. He goes further - registers new trademarks for virtual models of clothes and shoes. The experience of the game Fortnite, in which the characters wore  Air Jord an sneakers, helped here . 

Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger and other brands were also noted for selling their items for Roblox avatars. And rappers Lil Nas X and Travis Scott held virtual concerts for millions of in-game characters in 2020. 

Roblox management creates its metaverse based on 3D games and virtual events like the mentioned concerts. Daniel Sturman, CTO of the company, told Business Insider:

"We believe in a platform that will connect billions of users to share 3D experiences, we have been doing this for over 15 years."

At the end of January 2022, the platform opened 258 new vacancies. She is looking for front-end, back-end, and full-stack developers, with a stated base salary for a programmer starting at $141,000 per year.
