Wet Industrial Scrubbers
It is one of the most basic industrial scrubbers. In this, water is encapsulated in a metal container. Liquids and gases can be used to effectively to get rid of various contaminates. These liquids have different chemical composition and charge. They can be positively or negatively charged or non-charged. Since pollutants can vary in their charge, scrubbers can be packed with a liquid binding effectively to remove the contaminate from the gas.

This differs from the other scrubbers because the liquid-gas association increases the level of moisture of the gas expelled from the scrubber. The increased moisture will create a visible cloud leaving the scrubber.

Dry Industrial Scrubbers

Dry scrubbers do not use a liquid for the absorption of contaminants. A dry industrial scrubber has a reaction center where the sorbent or dry reaction material that captivates contaminants is mixed with the polluted gas. These are used largely to eliminate acids found in gases.

The dry sorbent used to eliminate the acid from the gas is made of an alkaline slurry. This is basic in nature and will counteract the acid in the gas. This can be mixed with the acid gas in two ways. 

There are two types of dry industrial scrubbers. The first method is dry sorbent injection. In this, the gas is mixed directly with the alkaline sorbent.  
Another method is the spray dryer absorbent method. In this, the polluted gas is processed through a mist of the sorbent. The sprayer lets for a good mix and effective removal of the contaminants from the gas.

Electrostatic Precipitators
Electrostatic precipitators function exclusively from the diverse types of industrial scrubbers with the use of charged energy to remove dust from a gas. It is important to match the polarity and charge type to bind to and remove the contaminants from the gas. An instance of the design of an electrostatic precipitator is a plate precipitator.
