Patty uses her unique intersectional frame to examine social issues at Defying Labels. Her poweful lens has emerged out of over ten years of advocacy work for youth in foster care, first as an ex-foster youth, then an undocumented Salvadoran immigrant, a queer girl, helplessly unseen, and finally as someone who has been incarcerated in the juvenile justice system. Each of these life lessons informs her commitment to change systemic inequalities. As a keynote speaker, Patty, through Defying Labels, speaks to organizations in and around Los Angeles County and internationally with her story and insights, inspiring others to redefine and embrace resilience on their journeys.
